The British Embassy in Paris is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is currently recruiting a Political Support Officer to play a key role in the Economic and Political Section (EPS) of the Embassy. Within EPS, this role sits in the economic, social and sustainability unit.
The economic, social and sustainability unit covers a wide range of policy issues, including economics, growth, digital, health, employment, education, gender equality, agriculture, environment, energy, transport and climate change. The successful candidate will help support the section and unit’s priority work areas through policy analysis, reporting, delivering visits, briefing and events for the section. The successful candidate will need to be a collaborative team player, able to juggle different types of work, reprioritise at short notice and deliver projects on time and to a high standard. We are also looking for candidates who are flexible and happy to get involved in different types of support work across the network as needs evolve.
At an important time for UK-France relations, one of the UK’s most important bilateral relationships, this will be a varied, exciting and rewarding job with scope for the successful candidate to bring their own ideas and credibility.

This is a full time, permanent contract. The position is based on a 35/H week. Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly in line with Embassy needs.
All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.

Working Pattern: The position is based on a 35- hour working week.
This is a full-time position. Our team works flexibly, including some time working remotely. However, in line with current policy, the job holder will be expected to be in the office at least 60% of the week – and more often when required e.g. during events or when filming is required.
