The Major Gifts Manager will work as part of the New Hampshire development program, with the goal of increasing overall fundraising activity for TNC-NH using proactive, efficient systems that keep the development team focused on successful relationship management and a clear donor focus. The primary responsibility of the Major Gifts Manager is to drive the major gifts fundraising process with an emphasis on building and effectively managing the donor portfolios, facilitating team support and accountability to meet fundraising goals, supporting financial tracking and planning, and ensuring best practices for data management in BBCRM. The Major Gifts Manager will be tasked with supporting the day-to-day operations for TNC-NH’s comprehensive fundraising plans, including the One Future campaign, by providing regular reports on donor engagement, fundraiser and volunteer activity, and progress to revenue goals. The Major Gifts Manager may be responsible for the management of consultants and vendors. Finally, the Major Gifts Manager will supervise and mentor the Development Operations Associate.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

• Organize and lead portfolio review meetings with fundraisers to assure timely cultivation, solicitation, follow up, data entry and tracking of new and current prospects, and strategy development.
• Manage the discovery pipeline process for the team to ensure the ongoing identification and qualification of new major donors and prospects.
• Prepare and analyze fundraising and activity reports for the development team, State Director, and the NH Board of Trustees.
• Serve as finance liaison, preparing regular revenue reports and supporting annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting.
• Serve as a liaison to TNC’s worldwide office, state chapters, and international field offices for questions related to opportunities, donor strategies, and goal setting.
• Participate in Major Gifts Manager network and other position-related calls/networks to learn about best practices and organizational requirements for this role; effectively communicate or distribute information to assist staff in making decisions, solving problems, and improving workflow.
• Provide support and targeted training related to the major gifts process and database management, including serving as a hub of knowledge on worldwide office fundraising resources, policies, and practices.
• Maintain advanced skills in fundraising systems and resources utilized by the team to execute assigned tasks and implement processes and practices to improve effectiveness.
• Provide project management for special projects, such as campaign planning, as needed.
• Serve as backup for gift processing, list pulling, and donor acknowledgment.
• Act independently within broad program goals to prioritize tasks in the absence of specific instructions and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
• Coordinate projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines, and manage a timeline.
• Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance. Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally.
• Ensure financial responsibility, including working within a budget and negotiating and contracting with vendors.
• Travel locally and occasional travel for trainings, retreats and events.
• Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience coordinating projects.
• Experience generating reports and analyzing and interpreting data.
• Experience with current technology in relevant field.
• Experience working across departments.
• Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $73,000-$77,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate”s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
