Who we are:

The British Embassy in Minsk is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are now recruiting a Receptionist /Social Manager who will be covering the reception and acting as the front face of the British Consulate General; meeting and greeting all staff and visitors both in person and on the telephone and assisting the Corporate Services team with ad-hoc duties.

Roles and responsibilities:

You will be a professional first point of contact for in-person visitors to the Embassy, and enquiries by telephone and email:

  • Providing reception and telephony service.

You will provide support to the Corporate Services team and wider Embassy in respect of the Embassy’s diplomatic functions:

  • Arranging dispatch and receipt of Embassy shipments/deliveries;
  • Act as requisitioner and receiver of goods and services; dispatching acceptance certificates for goods delivered
  • Administering the purchases of goods and services;
  • Providing ad hoc translation services.

You will provide support to the residence staff during social functions:

  • Backup TSM (Transport and Security Manager);
  • Social support;
  • Greet guests and visitors;
  • Supervise catering contractors;
  • Support HMA and DHM during social events;
  • Assist and escort guests to offices and the residence.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Essential on arrival:

  • Fluency at B2 level in English, and at C1 level in Russian (according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*) verbal and written;
  • Previous reception or customer services experience of at least 3 years;
  • Experience of working for an international organisation would be an advantage;
  • Strong IT skills (office programs);
  • No Criminal record certificate.

  • Experience in working for international organisations.

This is a permanent full-time position, five working days, 36 hours net per week.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Belarus are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Belarus employment law.
