Main Purpose of the Job:
Under overall guidance and supervision of the Provincial Health Manager and Technical support of Nutrition Coordinator (Lead), the Nutrition Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of all nutrition activities implemented by IRC. He/she will oversee teams in three Nutrition Sites, which includes Nutrition Counsellors, Nutrition Nurse and Community Engagement Workers. The Nutrition Officer will provide technical support to the team and ensure the nutrition services delivered to pregnant women, caregivers of children under 2 and children under 5 and good quality and according to national protocols and guidelines/protocols developed by the nutrition cluster. The Nutrition Officer will be responsible for the reporting for their assigned Nutrition Sites and overall running of and accountability for the Nutrition Sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of quality nutrition services at the assigned nutrition facilities and within the served communities.
• Support the establishment and strengthening of nutrition sites in health centres.
• Provide technical support on IYCF/ MIYCN, GMP and IMAM for counsellors, nurses and community engagement workers (CHW) to ensure provision of quality nutrition services.
• Ensure staff are trained on and use national/ nutrition cluster guidelines/SOPs on provision of nutrition services, including MYICN and IMAM.
• Ensure the availability of adequate nutrition IEC materials, and monitoring and evaluation tools in nutrition sites
• Ensure adequate stock and supplies in each of the assigned Nutrition Sites to provide requires services and ensure the space is welcoming, safe and comfortable for women and children.
• Conduct regular supportive supervision and provide on-the-job coaching for Nutrition Site staff, identifying capacity gaps to feed into capacity building plans for the team.
• Where required, support the Nutrition Manager and/or Nutrition Coordinator in delivery of technical orientations and trainings.
• Use standard supervision checklists to monitor and evaluate the quality of nutrition services provided and to create action plans for individual staff members, and nutrition site teams, which are checked on a regular basis.
• Ensure timely and accurate nutrition data collection and reporting in collaboration with HIS and nutrition teams.
• Prepare and share regular reports including OPD SAM monthly Statistics Reports and TSFP Reports to the Nutrition Coordinator for the assigned Nutrition Sites.
• Attend and actively participant in trainings and teams meeting as requested.
• Perform other duties related to nutrition programme as required, assigned by supervisor
• Ensure effective collaboration and coordination with stakeholders, including nutrition cluster partners, health and nutrition service providers, UN agencies, NGOs and MoPH.

Qualification and experience and attributes:

• Medical Doctor (MBBS), B.Sc. in Nutrition, B.Sc. Public Health, B.Sc. Pharmacy, B.Sc. Nursing.

Essential
• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
• A good understanding of IMAM & IYCF/MYICN programme
• Excellent interpersonal skill and able to work in a multicultural team
• Motivated and prepared to work in nutrition sites in challenging conditions
• Experience of working with NGO
• Good communication, writing and presentation skills in English, Dari and Pashto languages.
• Ability to work within a team of professional staff from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds and expertise
• Extremely flexible with teamwork
• Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
