Main purpose of job:
The British Embassy in Zagreb is looking for a Communications and Public Diplomacy Assistant. You will be a member of the Embassy’s Political & Communications team, which co-ordinates the UK’s engagement with Croatia across a wide range of issues, from security and defence to clean energy, science and technology and culture. You will work closely with Political and Communication team colleagues to support team objectives, including promoting Embassy activities to the public, supporting Embassy project work, and assisting with organisation and running of the Ambassador’s regional visits and inward senior UK visits, as well as high-profile soft power events such as the annual King’s Birthday Party celebration.
You will be responsible for running British Embassy Zagreb’s website and social media channels (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn), under the supervision of our Head of Communications, as well as creating and publishing digital media content promoting Embassy and UK Government priorities and values. As a member of the Communications Team, you will assist in public affairs, monitor media reporting and conduct press briefings. You will also be responsible for our public diplomacy, to influence and inspire Croatians, showcasing the best of Britain and its culture, including education.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term contract of 12 months. The monthly salary for this position is €2,612.17 gross + €47.78 transport allowance.
The role would be subject to a 6-month probationary period.
Working patterns: The position is based on a 39.5 hour working week, with standard core working hours Monday to Thursday from 08:30-17:00 hours including a one-hour lunch break at a time dependant on that day’s schedule. On Friday core working hours are from 0830-1400 hours, without a lunch break.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Croatia in order to apply.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Zagreb are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Croatian employment law.
Visa/Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Croatia.
