Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) serves as the primary support structure to the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking UN official at the country level and the designated representative of the UN Secretary-General. The office operates according to UN system-wide standards to ensure coherence, accountability, and efficiency in delivering on the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) This internship is based in the Resident Coordinator”s Office (RCO) Rwanda Kigali. Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Associate Development Coordination Officer, Programme Communications and Advocacy in the RCO, the intern will: 1. Draft, edit and publish engaging social media content related to UN Rwanda joint programmes. 2. Develop human-interest and success stories highlighting the impact of joint programmes on communities. 3. Support content development for the UN Rwanda website and newsletters. 4. Assist in media monitoring, archiving and documentation of communication products. 5. Perform other communication-related tasks as required. The internship assignment is available for a period of 3 – 6 months. The internship assignment is in-person at the RCO Rwanda, Kigali duty station. The internship is full-time and will not attract any remuneration or allowances.
Qualifications/special skills Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate school programme in information and communication technology or related area; (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of degree programme in information and communication technology or related area; or (c) if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least three years of fulltime studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of an information and communication technology degree or related degree. Preferred area of study: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field. Desired Profile
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
