IOM, UN Migration Agency in Beira, Mozambique is looking for a Project Officer (Energy) who will support IOM’s Migration, Environment, Climate Change and Risk Reduction (MECR) Programme in Mozambique by providing technical information and inputs for the development and implementation of activities, tools, guidelines and assessments related to sustainable energy, environment and climate change adaptation measures including nature based solutions.
1. Provide technical support and guidance for the implementation of energy access projects implemented by IOM Mozambique.
2. Provide technical support and inputs for the development of tools and assessment products focused on energy, environment, and climate change adaptation to facilitate informed decision-making and strategic planning.
3. Closely coordinate/facilitate partners to assist with timely delivery and quality assurance of the activities as per project workplans.
4. Draft and/or produce reports/knowledge products that capture the best practices and lessons learnt from the project to be incorporated in future energy projects implemented by IOM and other humanitarian organizations.
5. Engage with and provide technical information and recommendations to the MECR Manager to facilitate project effectiveness, strategic linkages, and risk management.
6. Research and document innovations, and new technologies and areas to contribute to the development of improved and innovative energy solutions and approaches.
7. Closely coordinate with the communication team to produce communication and visibility tools and materials that engage with donors and stakeholders more effectively.
8. Provide technical inputs and comments on research initiatives conducted within MECR and by MECR implementing partners and consultants to help enrich research outcomes with informed perspectives.
9. Supervise the National Officer and field teams for the implementation of existing projects, monitoring the timely and high-quality delivery of activities.
10. Provide MECR Programme Officer and reporting colleagues with programmatic updates, and other project and programme-related inputs as required by the donor(s) and IOM.
11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
