Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

Provide safe, timely, and courteous driving services for the British High Commission. Ensure proper care and maintenance of official vehicles in line with internal procedures. Support the Office Manager in maintaining and implementing security protocols and systems. Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the High Commission and its compound are well maintained.

As a team player with excellent customer service skills, you will transport colleagues and official visitors safely and punctually. You will maintain vehicles in good condition and have strong knowledge of roads, government buildings, and key locations across Grenada.

Roles and responsibilities:

1. Driver – 50%

  • Provide timely transport service in a safe and lawful manner at all times.
  • Provide professional driving service to members of the High Commission and any visiting VIPs and/or official colleagues.
  • Maintain awareness of potential security threats while driving or at destination and ensuring a defensive response to any threats to the vehicle or passengers, including some advance security checks ahead of visits.
  • Check and carry out daily inspection to ensure the vehicles are fit and safe to drive.
  • Ensure clear communication with the stakeholders when on official duty, customers and supervising team
  • Maintain and submit a record of all journeys.
  • Ensuring you hold a valid driving licence and ensure it remains valid to comply with insurance coverage requirements where needed,
  • Keep the vehicle clean, tidy and serviceable. Reporting any defects to the Office Manager.
  • Deliver letters and documents and undertake any other driving tasks in support of High Commission.

2. Security – 25%

  • On-site supervision and logging details for external visitors and/or contractors to compound.
  • Maintenance of security systems in collaboration with Office Manager, Post Security Manager and local security services.
  • Upkeep of local security protocols and access systems and operating as part of the security emergency response for incidents.

3. Office and Compound Maintenance – 25%

  • Carrying out routine maintenance tasks including upkeep of equipment, repairs, decorating, furniture maintenance etc.
  • Additional support work as directed to assist the smooth running of the High Commission.
  • Wider assistance to the British High Commission team as needed for official events.
  • Report any faulty appliances, damaged equipment or any potential hazards to the Office Manager.
  • Comply with Health & Safety and Fire safety requirements, reporting and implementing improvements.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Full and valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Prior experience in maintenance/handyman skills roles.
  • Knowledge of basic office IT systems (e.g. MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams etc).

Language requirements:

Language: English

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Familiarity with local routes and traffic regulations.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Safe and defensive driving techniques.
