WE ARE

DG Trade and Economic Security is responsible for leading the EU’s common commercial trade
policy, one of the European Union’s exclusive competences. Trade policy plays a critical role in
enhancing the EU’s economic competitiveness, shaping globalisation, and defending the EU from
unfair trade practices and threats to its economic security.

The Unit TRADE.R.5, within DG Trade and Economic Security, is responsible for human,
administrative and financial resources, strategic planning & programming and Internal Control,
security, business continuity, data protection, logistics and document management.

WE PROPOSE

Unit TRADE.R.5 is seeking to hire a secretary.

The position will consist of varied responsibilities in a friendly and stimulating working environment
with strong team spirit. The successful candidate will provide general administrative support to the
Head of Unit and Deputy Head of Unit, assisting with typical secretarial and administrative tasks
such as handling external contacts, organising meetings, managing absences and handling
correspondence. She/he will also manage tasks such as briefings requests, inter-service
consultations, access to document requests, and similar procedures, ensuring that all deadlines are
met.
Moreover, the selected candidate will be required to act as the BE WELL correspondent, ensuring
the coordination and implementation of BE WELL activities for DG Trade and Economic Security,
and to serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in coordination with the Office for Infrastructure
and Logistics in Brussels (OIB).

Close cooperation and coordination with other colleagues in the Directorates/units of the
Directorate-General will be required.

WE LOOK FOR

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and well-organised secretary, with a strong sense of
initiative and responsibility. The ideal candidate should demonstrate reliability, discretion and
excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, along with a positive attitude and strong
communication skills.

The selected candidate should be able to work efficiently, set priorities and plan their work to meet
deadlines. Experience within the European Institutions and knowledge of trade issues would be a
strong asset. Experience in coordinating with the OIB on office space allocation, and in coordinating
and implementing well-being activities, is a clear advantage. The candidate should have very good
written and oral communication skills in English, with good knowledge of French. Additionally,
practical knowledge of the Commission’s administrative procedures and IT tools (such as Microsoft
Office, ARES, MIPS, SYSPER, BASIS, DECIDE, CARES, ePoetry, V-PASS) would also be an advantage.
