The Credit Supervisor reporting to the Relationship Manager, is responsible for overseeing credit operations, ensuring effective assessment of creditworthiness, and maintaining a high-quality loan portfolio for VisionFund Kenya. This role involves supervising a team of Relationship officers, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements, and implementing credit risk mitigation strategies. The Credit Supervisor plays a pivotal role in managing and improving credit processes to support the organization”s mission of sustainable financial inclusion.

Multiple Locations: (Western Region, North Rift and Nairobi Region)-indicate preference on your CV.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Outreach

  • Lead client recruitment and awareness campaigns to promote credit services.
  • Achieve targets for Outstanding Loan Balance (OLB), new client acquisition, repeat borrowing, and client retention across designated categories.
  • Manage client relationships to ensure satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Staff Supervision

  • Oversee branch and site office staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to operational standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations to team members.

Integration with World Vision

  • Collaborate effectively with World Vision Area Development Programs (ADPs).
  • Foster strong working relationships with ADP Managers to align credit services with community development goals.

Client Training

  • Conduct pre-loan training sessions in accordance with policy guidelines.
  • Facilitate monthly post-loan training to support client financial literacy and loan management.

Portfolio Management

  • Ensure timely loan repayments and monitor portfolio health.
  • Document loan approvals and decisions in Branch Credit Committee meeting minutes.
  • Conduct thorough loan appraisals in line with credit policy standards.
  • Administer loans efficiently and accurately.

Loan Disbursement & Quality Control

  • Review and act on statistical reports, implementing action plans for non-performing loans.
  • Prevent disbursement to groups with outstanding arrears.
  • Utilize T24 system reports (e.g., delinquency, client status, group status) to guide disbursement decisions.
  • Ensure alignment between disbursement dates and loan schedule value dates.
  • Use T24 reports for ongoing quality control in collections and appraisals.
  • Meet Portfolio at Risk (PAR) targets consistently.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit regular performance reports.
  • Reconcile client records and ensure data accuracy across all reporting platforms.

Financial Targets

  • Achieve income generation targets as set by management.
  • Operate within allocated budget limits and demonstrate effective cost control.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Educational Requirements:

Diploma / Degree in Business Administration, Sociology, Marketing, or a related field.

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, in Microfinance, Retail Banking, or Enterprise Lending.

Key Competencies:

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to integrate with community development initiatives.
  • Motorcycle riding skills are an added advantage.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to personal and organizational integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational software relevant to the financial sector.
  • Exceptional customer service, marketing, and training capabilities.
