Context

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence towards women.

UNV has established a Special programme Initiative, aiming at engaging UN Volunteers to support UNESCO and in particular the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign in Ukraine

The selected UN Community Volunteers will assist the UNESCO Antenna team in Ukraine in preparing and delivering a series of webinars, workshops, and teaching materials. These materials will empower teachers and school psychologists to integrate awareness-raising activities on gender-based violence into their educational practices.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Senior Education Coordinator within the UNESCO Antenna in Ukraine as well as the direct supervision of Education and MHPSS Officer the UN Community Volunteer will:

• Undergo induction briefing on processes and activities undertaken by UNESCO under the 16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign
• Assist UNESCO in designing a webinar (online workshop) for teachers and school psychologists on preventing and addressing gender-based violence in the school context for the Facebook group with 33k subscribers, moderated by UNESCO (https://www.facebook.com/groups/modernteachers/)
• Assist in preparing learning materials (PowerPoints, handouts, activity sheets, reflection guides) under guidance from the UNESCO team.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

This is an unpaid volunteer assignment.

Required Skills and Experience

• University degree in education, psychology, social sciences, gender studies, or related field would be an advantage.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in education, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), or gender equality programming.
• Proven experience in developing and facilitating online training/webinars.
• Strong knowledge of gender-based violence prevention and response in educational settings.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and drafting skills.
• Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools in the education sector is an asset.
