UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.

Context

At the end of September 2025, the UN Women Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia held consultations with civil society organizations (CSOs) in Central Asia to discuss the development of a Regional Action Plan under the Women, Peace, and Security international framework. The PDFs are key materials being shared with CSOs as part of this consultation process. These documents are crucial for informing and guiding the development of the Regional Action Plan.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking 1-2 Online Volunteers to support us by translating three pdf files two of which are about national (Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) action plans and one is brochure on “Zero Violence” from English to Russian language. To this end the Online Volunteers are asked:
– To translate the documents, which is overall 38 pages (Tajikistan AP – 9 p., Uzbekistan AP – 25 p., brochure – 4 p.) long into Russian language
– Ensure the translation is concise, in line with our communications guidelines, and fits the audienceThe selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Secretariat of the Central Asian Alliance to End Gender-Based Violence at UN Women in Kazakhstan and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to the Agenda of development of the Regional Action Plan within international framework “Women, Peace and Security” (WPS).

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should be native in Russian and fluent in English. Previous translation experience is considered an asset.
