An exciting opportunity to head up the NRC’s Area Programme Manager (APM) Myanmar.

What we are looking for

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified, experienced, and dynamic Area Programme Manager (APM) Myanmar.

More About the Role.

The Area Programme Manager (APM) is responsible for implementing integrated programmes and represent NRC at coordination forums, as delegated from Area Manager as well as programming and advocacy in Rakhine State and ensuring that NRC and its partners achieve its programmatic objectives. As such, s/he is responsible for overseeing project implementation in Rakhine State, and for taking a leading role in developing strategy and programme development for the Country Office.

The APM is line managed by the Area Manager and is a member of the Area Management Team (AMT) and part of the extended Country Management Group. In addition, the APM has a technical (dotted) reporting line to the Head of Programme (HoP)and is a member of the Country Office (CO) Programme Unit (PU).

What you will do

1. Line management for CC project managers

1. Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures

1. Responsible for ensuring programme support to integrated programme, coordination and technical quality in Area office

1. Provide area specific input relevant for CC strategies

1. Compliance to donor standards, and grant management and regular reporting to donor in Area

1. Identify funding opportunities and develop funding strategy and forecasts

1. Responsible for grants management and BPO allocations in Area

What you will bring

1. Minimum 4 years’ experience from a management position in a humanitarian/ recovery context

1. Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

1. Core competency expertise

1. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities

1. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile

1. Fluency in English, both written and verbal

What we offer

Duty station: Sittwe. Rakhine State, Myanmar

Contract: 12 months, renewal subject to funding and performance

Travel: 30% – Travels to project sites and Yangon for coordination

Salary/benefits: Grade 9 on NRC’s Myanmar, salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
