JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission

UN Women is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide.

UN Women supports UN Member States as they set global standards for achieving gender equality, and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to ensure that the standards are effectively implemented and truly benefit women and girls worldwide.

Context

UN Women Uganda supports national partners to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment through targeted interventions across four key thematic areas:

 Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) – advancing prevention and response to gender-based violence;
 Governance and Women’s Leadership (GWL) – promoting women’s participation and leadership in decision-making spaces;
 Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) – enhancing women’s access to livelihoods, resources, and economic opportunities; and
 Women, Peace and Security, Humanitarian Action, and Disaster Risk Reduction (WPS-HADR) – supporting women’s participation in peacebuilding, resilience, and crisis response.

To strengthen visibility and communication of its results, UN Women Uganda seeks a Video Editor and Visual Designer to support the creation of compelling, branded multimedia content that documents achievements, lessons learned, and impact stories from its ongoing programmes.
The outputs will be used across digital platforms, presentations, national dialogues, and partner engagements to enhance advocacy and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Communications team, the Video Editor and Visual Designer will:

 Review and edit field and programme footage into short, high-quality advocacy videos (1–3 minutes each).
 Integrate branding, motion graphics, subtitles, and transitions to enhance storytelling.
 Design fact sheets, infographics, and visual layouts showcasing programme results and impact.
 Ensure all outputs comply with UN Women corporate branding guidelines and visual identity standards.
 Deliver optimized content suitable for social media, partner events, and presentations.

Deliverables

 Three short advocacy videos (1–3 minutes each) highlighting achievements across UN Women Uganda’s thematic areas.
 One highlight reel (under 1 minute) optimized for social media.
 Five visually designed fact sheets or infographics (PDF and editable formats).
 Editable design templates (InDesign, Illustrator, or Canva) for continued use by the Communications team.
 Submission of all raw and editable project files (video and design) upon completion.

Required Skills and Experience

 Professional experience in video editing and visual/graphic design, preferably in advocacy or development contexts.
 Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, or Canva.
 Strong ability to translate data and narratives into engaging visual stories.
 Familiarity with UN communication standards and storytelling for development.
 Excellent attention to detail, time management, and responsiveness to feedback.
 A degree in media production, communication design, or related field is desirable.
