Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

Main purpose of job:

The main purpose of this job is to provide services on specified Protocol matters relating to work the BHC is undertaking in implementing and exercising good Protocol policies and practices.

The job holder will be required to work on the aspects of Protocol work within the BHC, in particular diplomatic and third country visa facilitation, Visits’ NOCs, Accreditations and to cover for other team members as necessary.

The job holder must be a good communicator and have excellent organisational, prioritisation and coordination skills in order to meet the complex operational requirements to enable the BHC to function. He/she will work as part of a team but must also be able to work independently and to engage effectively, developing excellent working relationships with a wide range of individuals and stakeholders.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

Visa Facilitation/Processing (25%) – Prepare Pakistani visa cases for the diplomats and third country visa cases for all BHC staff and submit to the Ministry & other diplomatic missions for endorsement/approval.

Accreditations (25%) – He/she will be responsible for the preparation and submission of accreditation cards to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the newly posted diplomats. Also, he/she will be responsible to renew the expired accreditation cards. To be familiar with and provide support as necessary to perform administrative tasks related to protocol team of BHC. He/she will also be responsible to maintain the record of the same.

No Objection Certificates – NOCs (30%) – He/she will be responsible for the preparation of paperwork for the NOCs for domestic official/private visits of the diplomats and will submit to the ministry, keep tracking of the NOC requests to make sure the NOCs are received well in time prior to the visits.

Miscellaneous (20%) – To be familiar with and provide support as necessary for arrangements for the preparation of miscellaneous documents and cases for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Partners across Government including:

o Airport Passes (temporary)
o Dealing with other Diplomatic Missions in relation to visas
o Applying and facilitating Driving Licences for diplomats and their spouses
o Filing and organising data

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Graduation (Bachelor’s Degree)
Excellent IT Skills;
Well organised with ability to demonstrate flexibility;
One year office experience.

Driving Licence (LTV)

Other benefits and conditions of employment

For BHC candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC candidates the basic salary will be ­­PKR 105,136 per month. This salary is non-negotiable.

Please note that the current salaries are being dollarized and processed in USD (using a fixed corporate exchange rate from November 2022) to provide cushion against the current external market conditions. This is a temporary measure and is subject to review at regular intervals. The payroll will revert to local currency processing once the external market conditions are normalised.

BHC offers a great benefits package that comprises of Annual Domiciliary cover and Medical Insurance Scheme which includes PKR 1,500,000 floater coverage per family for self, one spouse/long term partner and children under the age of 19 or under 23, if in full-time education and not gainfully employed. The Annual Domiciliary cover for day-to-day medical payments is upto PKR 200,000 per family (basis actual bills submission).

Additionally, The British High Commission contributes to a retirement provision in the form of a mandatory provident fund.
