The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the position of Temporary Digital Solutions Intern under the Finance and Digital Solutions Team, based in Lilongwe, Malawi. The position will be for a period of six (6) months and will report directly to the Technology and Digital Solutions Manager.

The Digital Solutions Intern will be responsible for supporting ICT systems and digital transformation initiatives for the Lilongwe Area Office. The role holder will focus on designing, developing, and deploying digital applications using Microsoft Power Platform tools, as well as providing technical support, systems maintenance, and user training. The post holder will also assist in research and development of digital solutions that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen information systems across the organization.

S/he will work closely with the Technology and Digital Solutions Manager, project teams, and end users to ensure effective implementation of digital tools and smooth functioning of ICT infrastructure. The intern will contribute to Save the Children’s digital transformation agenda by developing innovative, user-friendly, and secure digital solutions that improve workflows and service delivery.

The position holder will ensure that all system support, configurations, and development work are well documented and aligned with organizational IT policies and procedures, supporting efficiency, security, and continuous improvement within the office’s ICT operations.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder may be required to work outside the normal role profile and vary working hours accordingly.

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or Business Information Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in creating and optimizing automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate (this is a must).
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, system administration, and IT support.
  • Good knowledge of technical management, information analysis, and computer hardware/software systems.
  • At least one year of experience in ICT support and management.
  • Familiarity with Windows and MS Office products, LAN/WAN infrastructures, and troubleshooting of servers and networks.
  • Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s values and principles, including accountability, transparency, and child safeguarding.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of IT security, data protection, and digital development best practices.
  • Previous experience working with NGOs or in community-based ICT projects.
