WE ARE
The Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) aims to contribute to raising
the economic standards of citizens in the European Union and beyond and promote sustainable
prosperity, by fostering competitive and resilient economies, ensuring fiscal sustainability and
promoting productivity-focused investment.
Unit C1 contributes to the policy decision-making process at the EU level with a view to achieving
and maintaining sound and sustainable public finances in the euro area and the EU. To achieve this
objective, the unit aims at improving the EU fiscal framework, the Stability and Growth Pact, and
monitors its implementation. The unit also aims at reinforcing the co-ordination of the budgetary
policies of Member States. In this context, it develops analytical and policy tools on the efficiency of
fiscal policy and relevant public finance issues.
WE PROPOSE
ECFIN.C.1 offers a position in a friendly and challenging work environment in a dynamic team of 14
people as secretary to the Head of Unit and the unit staff. The successful candidate should ensure
a smooth running of the secretariat and provide general administrative support to the Head of Unit
and the members of the team. It includes assisting with the general organisation of the unit’s
secretarial and administrative tasks, including administrative coordination and support (managing
telephone calls, diary-keeping, missions, absences) and document management services (archives,
legislative files). A key responsibility will be the organisation of events both internal and external.
The position also offers the opportunity to be involved in legislative processes, the production and
dissemination of the Report on Public Finances in EMU, and to manage the unit’s input to the ECFIN

WE LOOK FOR
We are looking for a secretary.
The ideal profile for the job is a dynamic and well organised secretary who is looking for an
interesting job. S/he should be self-motivated and able to organise her/his work independently and
show a strong sense of initiative and responsibility. Good planning and the ability to perform
multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities are essential. A positive attitude, good
communication skills and excellent human relations are also essential. Good knowledge of the
administrative procedures of the Commission (ARES, MIPS, Decide, BASIS, etc.) would be considered
an asset. English is the main working language, although a good working knowledge of French
would be appreciated.
