Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The Communications and Public Diplomacy team of the British Embassy in Brazil is looking for Digital and Campaigns Manager to lead our digital strategies and campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver creative campaigns on a number of priority topics, including economic growth, trade, climate, science and innovation, and soft power. You will be expected to increase our visibility and recognition through high quality content for social media channels, partnerships with external stakeholders and events. You will establish relations with social media opinion leaders and influencers, helping to disseminate UK-Brazil collaborations and the British culture in Brazil. You will be responsible to produce analytical reports and share performance insights on our social media presence.
The ideal candidate is an experienced and creative digital marketer and has a passion to using social media to advance the issues we care about. You will also be up to date with the latest on British and Brazilian pop culture.

The Digital and Campaigns Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the British Embassy’s digital presence in Brazil. This is a dynamic and creative position that blends strategic thinking, content creation, stakeholder engagement, and performance analysis to amplify UK-Brazil collaborations and British culture.

Key Responsibilities and Estimated Time Allocation

1. Digital Strategy and Campaign Leadership (50%)

Design and execute innovative digital strategies and social media campaigns across priority themes such as trade, climate, science, innovation, and soft power.
Lead content creation, user engagement, and performance monitoring.
Produce high-quality digital assets including videos and imagery tailored to Embassy channels.

2. Influencer and Stakeholder Engagement (20%)

Develop and implement strategies to engage with influencers and opinion leaders.
Build and maintain relationships to expand the reach and impact of UK messaging in Brazil.

3. Events and Public Diplomacy (20%)

Contribute to the organisation of events, press engagements, and VIP visits.
Use creative approaches to promote UK policy objectives through soft power initiatives.

4. Monitoring and reporting (10%)

Plan, manage, and optimise paid social media campaigns (e.g., Facebook Ads).
Produce analytical reports and performance insights to inform future strategies.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading impactful social media campaigns in government, private sector, or NGOs.
  • Strong writing, spelling, and copywriting skills.
  • Basic video and photo editing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in social media analytics and reporting.
  • Experience with paid media strategies.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English.
  • IT literacy (MS Office suite).
  • Ability to organise and manage tasks

Language requirements:

Language: English and Portuguese

Level of language required: Excellent English and Portuguese (spoken and written).

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Degree in communications or related fields.
  • Experience with international organisations or media.
  • Established network of media contacts and influencers.
  • Understanding of UK politics, economy, and culture.

Applicants must have the legal status to live and work in Brazil.

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list’. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or a largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second or subsequent candidate.

This role will preferable be based at the Embassy in Brasilia, but we may consider outstanding candidates to be based in the Consulate- General in Sao Paulo or in Rio de Janeiro. Please indicate your preference below.
