UNRCO COG organization mission TBD
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual global campaign that runs from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day). This initiative aims to raise awareness, mobilize support, and encourage concrete action to end all forms of gender-based violence.
In the Republic of Congo, the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UNRCO) is seeking to leverage the engagement of online volunteers to amplify the reach of this campaign. The goal is to mobilize 300 virtual volunteers to:
– Increase awareness among local communities through digital actions, particularly among young people and vulnerable groups.
– To promote key United Nations messages on preventing and combating gender-based violence.
– Use social media and digital platforms to create a collective movement against this violence.
This mission is in line with the United Nations’ vision of leaving no one behind and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 5 (Gender equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, justice and strong institutions).
This mission offers Online Volunteers the opportunity to develop and strengthen their communication skills, create networks within the communication team and benefit from other learning experiences.
No prior experience is required. A good understanding of social media is necessary to contribute effectively to the campaign. Experience in awareness-raising or communications is an asset. An interest in human rights and gender equality issues is highly valued.
