Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting

  • Support preparation of annual and quarterly project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure budgets are aligned with technical work plans and donor agreements.
  • Provide financial insights to guide programmatic and operational decision-making.
  • Monitor budget utilization and advise the Project Manager on variances and reallocation needs.

Financial Accounting and Documentation

Responsibilities:

  • Record and process all project financial transactions in accordance with World Vision policies and donor rules.
  • Maintain proper accounting records, vouchers, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure timely posting and reconciliation of transactions in the accounting system (e.g., SunSystems, Horizon).
  • Manage petty cash and ensure timely replenishment and reporting.

Grants Compliance and Donor Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to donor and World Vision financial regulations and grant conditions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management and donors.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
  • Monitor project spending to prevent over-expenditure or ineligible costs.

Cash Management and Disbursement

Responsibilities:

  • Manage project cash flow to meet operational and field requirements.
  • Ensure timely disbursement to vendors, partners, and project beneficiaries.
  • Conduct monthly cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Safeguard cash and financial assets in accordance with WV financial policies.

Procurement and Asset Management Support

  • Support procurement processes by ensuring financial due diligence and budget availability.
  • Verify supporting documents before payment and ensure adherence to procurement policies.
  • Maintain an updated asset and inventory register for the FMNR project.

Capacity Building and Partnership Support

  • Train project and partner staff on financial policies, compliance, and documentation.
  • Provide coaching to field staff on proper expense documentation and reporting.
  • Support partner financial assessments and capacity-strengthening initiatives.

Field Monitoring and Support Visits

  • Conduct periodic visits to project sites to review financial records and field expenses.
  • Verify that expenditures align with activities implemented.
  • Provide on-site guidance to strengthen financial controls at the field level.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff meetings, audits, devotions, and capacity-building sessions.
  • Support visibility, documentation, and reporting of FMNR financial impact stories.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Finance Manager.

Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Computer skills
  • Strong capacity building skills (especially with people with no formal education)
  • Experience working with farmers
  • Working knowledge of programs or the projects management cycle
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all staff and other key partners
  • Strong reporting and communication skills in English
  • Good planning and organizational skills

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in project or grant financial management (preferably in NGO sector).

  • Knowledge of donor-funded project accounting (e.g., EU, USAID, GCF, or World Vision-supported grants).
  • Strong understanding of financial systems (e.g., SunSystems, Horizon, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong ethical standards, attention to detail, and commitment to stewardship.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
