Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier and more independent lives?

Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

We support over 125,000 people each year through our 200 services, empowering individuals to overcome challenges around mental health, housing, and substance use.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to join our Drug and Alcohol Service. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a team of Recovery Practitioners within a service that combines both clinical and psychosocial support. As the lead provider, you will contribute to the effective delivery of prescribing and psychosocial interventions that support service users on their recovery journey.

As Team Leader, you will support the Service Manager in delivering, monitoring, and improving processes to ensure contractual requirements, quality standards, and KPIs are consistently met. You will provide operational leadership and guidance to your team, ensuring that first-class, person-centred care is delivered at all times.

What You’ll Do

  • Managing, mentoring, coaching, and developing staff reporting to you, including volunteers
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation
  • Providing written and verbal reports as required
  • Actively involving service users in shaping future service design and changes to delivery
  • Ensuring services are accessible to all, with particular attention to underrepresented groups

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • Experience within the drug and alcohol sector is highly desirable
  • Experience managing caseloads
  • Proven ability to lead or supervise a small team
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications

About Waythrough

Some roles may still appear under our legacy brands (Humankind, Richmond Fellowship, Aquarius) while we complete our integration — but wherever you join us, you’ll be part of one supportive team, sharing one purpose.

  • Pension scheme with 4.5% employer contribution, matched up to 6.5%
  • Life assurance (3× annual salary)
