About the Program:
WRI’s Restoration program helps catalyze the restoration of forests, farmland, and ecosystems. Our goal is to help restore ecosystem function, economic productivity, livelihoods, and hope. The Restoration program is a flagship initiative of the Food, Land and Water program at WRI and works with governments, grassroots community organizations, entrepreneurs and international partners to inspire, enable, and implement restoration on degraded landscapes, returning them to economic and environmental productivity.
Job Highlight:
As the Marketing and Engagement Associate, you will strengthen how the Global Restoration Initiative (GRI) engages priority audiences and bring its products, stories, and impact to the world to help build a global restoration movement.
Working as part of the Restoration Communications team and closely with colleagues from across the program, you will support the marketing and productization of tools and knowledge products, contribute to digital outreach across social media and web platforms, and help streamline the Restoration program’s complex brand architecture into a more coherent, aligned, and user-friendly system.
You will help develop and implement tailored engagement and marketing strategies for key groups — including donors, investors, policymakers, private-sector actors, practitioners and cultural influencers — ensuring that communications are targeted, actionable, and grounded in audience insight. With a focus on all the program’s country and regional initiatives including across Africa and Latin America, you will support the program’s key objectives to raise awareness around restoration, inspire action and drive investment towards the emerging restoration economy.
You combine creativity with strong organizational and delivery skills. You will be collaborative, detail-oriented, and comfortable turning strategy into execution. You will bring marketing instincts, digital fluency, and curiosity for emerging communication trends — including AI — to help expand the program’s reach and deepen engagement across regions and audiences.
You will report to the Communications Director, GRI, and work in close collaboration with the Creative and Production Director, GRI.
What you will do:

- Collaborate with product owners, designers, and technical teams to help guide the “productization” of tools, research, and digital assets, and define value propositions, positioning, and launch strategies.
- Help develop product “go-to-market” planning and ensure restoration products are accessible, user-friendly, and positioned effectively for the audiences they are built for.
- Gathering user feedback to inform product improvements and future iterations.
Marketing and Digital strategy (Social Media, Web & Email) (25%)
- Design and implement creative marketing strategies that elevate restoration messages, products, tools, events, and impact stories across regions. Contribute to content for campaigns, newsletters, partner outreach, and promotional materials.
- Plan and execute coordinated marketing pushes around key moments and milestones, ensuring alignment with global and regional teams.
- Develop and oversee digital and social media strategies that grow awareness, reach, and engagement and review content for clarity, accuracy, and brand coherence. Ensure digital activities are coordinated with WRI’s core communications digital team and partners.
- Consolidate analytics and performance metrics and insights to refine digital and marketing approaches and strengthen audience impact.
- Monitor emerging digital trends — including AI-driven tools — and recommend new formats, channels, and partnerships to expand visibility and influence.

- Develop and implement tailored engagement strategies for priority audiences, including donors, investors, policymakers, private-sector actors, practitioners, and cultural influencers.
- Support colleagues across the restoration program in designing effective engagement approaches for their own audiences and initiatives.

- Track engagement performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Brand Strategy and Alignment (15%)
- Develop a coherent brand strategy for the GRI by helping clarify and streamline initiatives, products, and platforms.
- Support the development of naming, messaging, and visual guidance that improves clarity and consistency across regions and programs.
- Ensure alignment with WRI’s institutional brand standards while helping the restoration program strengthen its own narrative and identity.
Cross-Team Collaboration and Internal Coordination (10%)
- Work closely with program, research, digital, and country teams to ensure engagement and marketing strategies are aligned with program needs and priorities.
- Provide hands-on support to colleagues outside the comms team as they design engagement approaches, prepare materials, or plan outreach.
- Contribute to a collaborative, creative, and solutions-oriented team culture.
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and workflows for assigned engagement, marketing, and product-related projects.
- Track project progress, risks, and opportunities, and keep team members informed and aligned.
