Program Background

The Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP) is a flagship 10-year infrastructure program funded by the Australian Government, with a budget of AUD 276 million. The program intends to improve the quality and accessibility of infrastructure across the provinces, delivering outcomes that contribute to broad-based, inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

At the conclusion of SIIP, it is expected that two End of Program Outcomes (EOPOs) will have been achieved:

· EOPO 1: the Solomon Islands will have enhanced capacity to plan, manage, finance, construct and maintain critical economic infrastructure

· EOPO 2: the program will have left a legacy of high profile, resilient and accessible infrastructure assets in a range of sectors across the country that support inclusive economic growth.

The Role
The Infrastructure Project Coordinator (IPC) is a mid-level infrastructure management position responsible for supporting and assisting the coordination, management of the delivery of infrastructure construction and other day to day functions of the SIIP Infrastructure activities.

This project will involve the construction of a new market facilities for up to 140 vendors in Malu’u/ Seghe and other upcoming markets.

The IPC provide daily supervision to construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documentation and DFAT SIIP policies. The efficient and effective support of the IPC is linked to the successful implementation and completion of the construction activities associated with the construction project. The successful fulfilment of this role will directly have an impact on ensuring the ongoing delivery of high-quality market infrastructure across Solomon Islands.

The IPC will demonstrate a flexible work attitude and a willingness to learn in fast-paced and dynamic environment.

About You

· Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as: Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline. Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a construction management or coordination capacity with history of working with large national firms, will be accepted in lieu of qualifications.

· Significant work experience in project management and/or construction supervision of vertical infrastructure (buildings).

· Understanding of the issues and challenges relating to design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure in the Solomon Islands.

· Experience working or strong understanding of all stages of infrastructure projects, from planning/scoping, through design, procurement, construction and defects liability period.

· Understanding of, and commitment to gender equality, social inclusion and strong safeguards management.

· Have a thorough knowledge of Building Standards, Codes of New Zealand or Australia or Solomon Islands and or relevant legislations.

· Proficiency with MS Excel, Word required, familiarity with other software programs is desirable.

· Strong analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems, complex issues and risks, anticipate barriers and create practical solutions.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
