JOB DESCRIPTION

WE ARE

Unit R1 steers the development of DIGIT through cross-directorate change activities and through strategic planning and programming, sound internal governance and internal control. These activities will enable the transformation of DIGIT’S internal processes, tools and culture in line with DIGIT’S objectives and priorities. The unit leads the internal and external communication with the various stakeholders. R1 also coordinates (inter)institutional relations and audits. The communication, coordination and change management activities will ensure that DIGIT can deliver the services and support needed by customers.

The unit consists of 3 sectors:

  • Communication and engagement
  • Transformation
  • Internal control and institutional matters

The successful candidate will join the Communication sector, which leads the communication of the DG, raising awareness about who DIGIT is and what we work on internally in DIGIT (internal communication), facilitating the adoption of new digital ways of working by all staff (external communication), and raising the awareness about the digital transformation efforts of the Commission with external audiences (external communication).

WE PROPOSE

We offer a unique position to contribute to the communication strategy of DIGIT. The successful

candidate will join a dynamic team that coordinates and supports the internal and external

communication and engagement activities in DIGIT. The position will focus on the external

communication of the DG.

The successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Support the planning and implementation of internal and external communication campaigns on digital topics.
  • Contribute with original and creative ideas for storytelling, layout, and content presentation across communication platforms.
  • Prepare press releases, statements, and media materials.
  • Serve as a liaison between DIGIT and the Spokesperson’s Office of the Commission in coordinating requests and preparing lines-to-take for the media.
  • Manage and monitor official social media accounts.
  • Draft articles and support the production of newsletters, ensuring clear, engaging, and well- structured content.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events, such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Support the work of Senior Management by preparing speeches, programmes, and briefing notes.
  • Liaise with internal departments to gather and verify information for communication outputs.

WE LOOK FOR

The successful candidate should have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages an asset).
  • Familiarity with media relations, event coordination, and public communication.
  • Experience in social media management and digital content creation.
  • A good understanding of digital topics and technologies (e.g. Cloud, Al, open source, etc.);
  • A sound understanding of the Commission’s structure, context and policy areas.
  • Very good inter-personal and communication skills;
  • Ability to draft quickly and clearly in English.
  • Ability to craft compelling narratives.
