The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking a Global Assurance (Internal Audit) Fellow to join IJM in April 2026 for a 6-month fellowship.

The Global Assurance team performs internal audits to deliver key financial insights to stakeholders. The Global Assurance (Internal Audit) Fellow will support the strategic planning of the Global Assurance function, partnering with the Global Director to provide key insights to internal audit objectives, frameworks, tools, techniques, and data analytics. The Fellow will execute strategic planning, support project timelines and deliverables, and complete training and support of staff with internal audit capabilities. Tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • Internal audit risk assessments;

  • Creating compliance frameworks;

  • Building collaboration frameworks with other internal functions;

  • Key technology integration; and

  • Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.

This position can be fully in-person or hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Director, Global Assurance. The position requires 30-40 hours per week, primarily during the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm EST.

This 6-month fellowship will initially run from April 2026 – September 2026.

General Qualifications and Required Skills

  • Bachelor”s degree in Finance or Accounting.

  • Certified Internal Auditor certification.

  • Experience in risk assessment and enterprise risk management (ERM).

  • Experience with governance, risk, and compliance functions.

  • Experience in project management or process implementation.

  • Operational audit experience a plus.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*What is a statement of faith?
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
