1. Provide interpretation and intercultural mediation for effective communication between IOM staff, reception and voluntary return officials and beneficiaries, including during individual/group sessions and relevant activities.
2. Keep and respect the professional confidentiality.
3. Work closely with reception and voluntary return authorities and project team to understand interpretation needs.
4. Provide information to the staff in order to assist the latter in comprehending the perceptions of the beneficiaries, act as a cultural mediator for beneficiaries during the adjustment period to their new environment.
5. Identify gaps and barriers hindering beneficiaries from accessing the services available to them.
6. Escalate any sensitive issues following the appropriate referral pathways, and ensure at all times that the reception facilities are safe protection-sensitive environments and that appropriate referral pathways are respected in case of any harm caused to residents.
7. Support translating information materials/ documents and other needed information used for individual and/ or group activities with beneficiaries.
8. Facilitate communication, through interpretation and/or translation, in a spoken or written language understood by the beneficiaries, between the beneficiaries and the staff, in an objective and impartial way.
9. Perform other administrative tasks to support project implementation.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
• High school degree/certificate with minimum two years of relevant work experience.
• University degree from an accredited academic institution an advantage.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
• Previous work experience in a similar role;
• Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment is preferred;
• Experience in assisting migrants and vulnerable groups;
• Understanding of asylum and migration context in Slovenia is an advantage.

• Ability to wok in multicultural teams and under difficult conditions;
• Cooperative and problem-solving attitude;
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented;

Languages
Fluency is required in Arabic or Farsi, and English or Slovenian. Candidates with knowledge of multiple required languages will be prioritized.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
