What we are looking for

Experience from working on country or area management or general managerial positions in a humanitarian, recovery, complex and volatile contexts.

Experience with scale up processes and working in Ukraine and knowledge of context. Leadership experience – managing people performance and development as well as managing resources to optimise results.

What you will be doing

The purpose of the Area Manager position is to ensure high quality, cost-effective and timely programme/project implementation within the designated geographical area.

Key responsibilities

  • Member of the Country Management Group (CMG) and will provide area specific input on CC strategies, Country Strategy and Plan of Action.

  • Implementation of projects (including master support budget and coordinating input for donor proposals and reports) in the area, in compliance with contractual commitments (i.e. quality, synergies, timeliness, use of resources) and aligned to regional and global strategies.

  • Ensure optimal use of resources within the allocated project budgets and CC strategies.

  • Assess needs, develop emergency response and implement response plans for in kind assistance and cash-based interventions and market-based programmes.

  • Organize grants opening and closure meetings at area level making sure projects are operationalized with work plans on timely delivery.

  • Lead on partnerships approach in the area level.

  • Responsible for compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures.

  • Line management and capacity building to all staff in the area as well as ensure overall security and safety of staff in the area.

  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy.

  • Represent NRC and networking on area level. Ensure the establishment of good relationship with key international and national stakeholders in the area, including local and regional authorities.

What you will bring

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working on country or area management or general managerial positions in a humanitarian, recovery, complex and volatile contexts.

  • Leadership experience – managing people performance and development as well as managing resources to optimise results.

  • Experience working in Ukraine and knowledge of context.

  • Experience with scale up processes.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

  • Travel: Up to 30%
