JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:   Case Management Specialist
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Program Development & Quality LOCATION: Greater Cairo with at least 50% frequent travel to Aswan and the north coast
GRADE: 3 CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 months with possibility of Extension based on budget availability
CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Case Management (CM) specialist is expected to play a key role in reviewing Save the Children (SC), Egypt Country office CM Standard Operating Procedures, CM supervision guidelines in addition to compiling and standardizing SC capacity building package for caseworkers and mentors in consistency with SC Steps to Protect common approaches. The CM specialist is expected to assist the Child Protection Technical Advisor in providing technical supervision for some caseworkers on interim basis and support the pilot of the CM data management system. He/She will have responsibility to conduct consultation meetings with different stakeholders and deliver timely results with quality.

 

 

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Role Dimensions: Work closely with all projects’ case management teams.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

·        Assist the Child Protection (CP) Technical Advisor (TA) in providing the needed technical support to the different projects case management (CM) teams to ensure quality CM services are provided to our beneficiaries;

·        Support the CP TA in providing technical supervision for case management supervisors including senior officers and officers;

·        Provide extensive on the job-coaching and mentoring to the CM supervisors, caseworker, and CM teams across all projects in addition to SCI Partners.

·        Ensure that the CM implemented services are aligned with SC Egypt Co. CM Standard operating procedures;

·        Work closely with the CP TA to review, update and develop the SC Egypt Co. Case Management and Mentorship SOP;

·        Review and update SC CM capacity building package for caseworkers and mentors, and partner organizations and facilitate the needed trainings related with the case management interventions;

·        Conduct regular review of high risks cases under the different projects;

·        Support the CP TA in reviewing the case management quality benchmarks for some projects;

·        Support the pilot of the CM data management system;

·        In coordination with the MEAL team, provide unified guidance to the CM team to reports on child protection trends;

·        Facilitate internal CM case conference among the different projects;

·        Participate in relevant coordination platforms;

·        Review CM reports and capture CP trends;

·        Inform the CP TA about any challenges, difficulties, and concerns in the implementation of activities or issues in the social context.

·        Conduct regular field visits to monitor the quality of activities;

·        Ensure mainstreaming of SC Child Safeguarding policy in all documents and activities;

·        Ensure SCI policies and procedures are being adhered to improve programme operational efficiency;

 

In case of Emergency:

·        Promote children”s rights, contributing to their well-being and protection in times of emergencies, guided by humanitarian principles and code of conduct.  

·        During emergencies, he/she should act in a way that facilitates SCI’s response to emergencies, giving priority to all assigned.

·        Be prepared to support SCI interventions in response to emergencies and show needed flexibility

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Bachelor’s degree in development related fields; having master’s degree is preferable.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in child protection case management, including at least two years in supervisory roles.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication skills, writing problem solving and organizational skills;
  • In-depth experience in training development and delivery, including Child Protection and Case Management and mentoring.
  • Strong knowledge of CP GBV principles, SOPs, and humanitarian standards.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written) is required;
  • Experience with refugee/marginalized communities is a must;
  • Commitment to SCI’s values and policy;
  • Familiar with the refugee context in Egypt and associated political/cultural sensitivities
