POSITION SUMMARY:
The Copy Editor/Writer brings editorial expertise to the organization and creative process. Daily job duties include copyediting, proofreading, and some original writing. This role ensures all marketing content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with brand voice and business objectives. The ideal candidate understands how to craft interactive, audience-focused content that drives response and maintains consistency across channels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Edit branded content across formats including websites, articles, collateral, program descriptions, fundraising
copy, presentations, scripts, guidebooks, storytelling documents, and creative campaigns.
· Provide strategic editorial guidance to ensure messaging meets business goals and resonates with target audiences.
· Conduct research to ensure accuracy of written copy and support storytelling efforts.
· Offer editorial counsel and support to cross-functional teams.
· Maintain the internal Editorial Style Guide and update as needed to meet organizational standards.
· Ensure smooth review cycles and timely delivery of campaign assets by working with copywriters and art directors.
· Collaborate with internal teams and creative partners throughout project execution.
· Contribute to concept development alongside the Creative team.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in English literature, journalism or similar
· Preferred Degree: Bachelor’s degree
· Certificate(s) or License(s): None
· Years of experience: 5+ years of editorial and proofreading experience, in-house or agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
· Exceptional writing, editing, and authentic storytelling skills.
· Strong proofreading expertise with advanced grammar, style, and formatting knowledge.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and connect brand messaging across programs for greater impact.
· Strategic thinking to integrate brand messaging across digital and print deliverables.
· Strong interpersonal skills for navigating feedback, building consensus, and working across teams.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
· Familiarity with organization programs, initiatives, and priorities.
· Proficiency with editorial tools including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva and experience navigating project
workflows in Monday.com.
· Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required (rare but possible).
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimal; ability to travel, when necessary, limited to external meetings, and conferences.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· No (or very limited) exposure to physical risk and minimal physical effort required.
· Ability to set up your own ergonomic workspace and work at a computer for extended periods.
