Research Investigator with Non-Communicable Diseases under the Nutrition Research Division (Internal#133/2025)

The Non-Communicable Disease under the Nutrition Research Division at icddr,b conducts research across multiple projects addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh. The team collaborates with national and international partners to investigate the genetic and molecular determinants of diabetes and related metabolic conditions.
As part of these efforts, a genetic research study is being conducted to identify novel genetic markers and molecular signatures associated with lean and non-lean diabetes in the Bangladeshi population. This work aims to improve understanding of disease mechanisms, inform early diagnosis, and support the development of tailored prevention and treatment strategies. These efforts contribute significantly to advancing metabolic health research and strengthening public health responses in Bangladesh and beyond.
Position Description:
The Research Investigator will report to Principal Investigator and will be mainly responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating research ideas with strong background in data management, analysis, and data interpretation to attain project objectives within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values.
The specific areas of responsibilities include:
Plan and supervise weekly field activities to ensure timely implementation and milestone achievement.
Coordinate closely with the PI, Co-PIs, donors and site investigators including preparing protocol-aligned reports and data sharing.
Oversee timely sample collection, transport, lab analysis, and accurate result documentation.
Follow up and record participant health outcomes and promptly report any notifiable events to investigators.
Submit clinical test requests, interpret results with senior clinicians, and coordinate necessary follow-up actions.
Track study progress, interpret emerging outcomes with investigators, and provide feedback for ongoing process improvement.
Maintain clear documentation of field observations to support continuous monitoring.
Prepare and review annual protocol reports for IRB submission.
Develop dashboards for real-time results, and support report preparation and manuscript development.
Generating new research ideas and formulating research questions with a focus on diabetes genetics, metabolic health, and prevention in the Bangladeshi population;
Applying critical analysis and conducting rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful inferences;
Contribute to disseminating research findings to scientific communities, stakeholders, and policymakers.
Support the PI and investigators in scientific and technical activities, including manuscript writing, publication, and proposal development for funding.
Required qualification and experience
MBBS or Master”s degree in public health from a reputed University with an excellent academic record;
Minimum 3 years of experiences in public health research field;
Preference will be provided to the candidates who has advanced analytical skill and track record of published manuscripts

Contract Type and Duration:
Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 6 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.
Salary & benefits:
Tk. 134,048/- per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen food.
