Where Your Career is a Force for Good! We are seeking a part-time Driver for our Boston Food Pantry Program. The position is 16 hours per week working Tuesday – Thursday, 6:30 am to noon. No benefits.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): The Driver uses a 20-foot box truck to pick up, deliver and properly store products and other lightweight materials in accordance with an assigned route or on and as needed basis. Perform additional transport or loading duties to support the American Red Cross. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.

Specific duties: The Driver will pick up food at the pantry and deliver it to community distribution sites. Will assist with loading and unloading truck, using a pallet stacker and electric pallet jacks. Will also help with inventory and assist with other duties at the pantry and distribution sites.

Will work closely with volunteers. Must be comfortable driving a 20-foot box truck. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities): Drive vehicle to pick-up, deliver and properly store correspondence and products.

Operate vehicle safely and within traffic laws. May require driving in inclement weather conditions. Follow an assigned route.

Read and interpret maps and directions. May maintain logs and reports for daily runs. Maintain vehicle in a clean condition.

May check fluid and gas levels in vehicle. May provide shipping and receiving support. Carry out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications): Education: High School or equivalent required. Experience: 1 year of related experience preferred. Skills & Abilities: Ability to become proficient with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, complete in a timely and accurate manner. Ability to work on a team.

A current, valid driver”s license with good driving record is required. A CDL is not required but helpful. Travel: Travel 40%.

The salary for this position is (Massachusetts): $20.00. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic).

Overall mobility is essential including sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle and working under challenging conditions.
