KOSHISH is a non governmental and, non profit organization which is working in the field of mental health and psychosocial well being in Nepal.
KOSHISH follows a right based advocacy and direct holistic mental health services for the persons with the mental health/psychosocial disability.
Ever since, KOSHISH has been promoting self advocacy in the areas of mental health and psychosocial disabilities.It works in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Persons with Disability (CRPD) 2006 by virtue of which the people with mental health and psychosocial disability have a wholesome right to live independently and being included in the community on equal basis with others. For this, it provides capacity building including awareness on fundamental rights to such people .
KOSHISH is advocating for abolishment of the discriminatory legal practices against such persons and is attempting to create model peer support based mental health and psychosocial wellbeing program in the grassroot of the communities as a long run strategy. This model can be replicated by the Government in Nepal.
We are focusing on the motto “no one left behind” as everyone`s life is so precious. the right to get mental health support is not a luxury but necessity like drinking water, food and shelter. We are trying to integrate the mental health services into health and beyond the health system like human rights, gender. education disability and so on.
KOSHISH is promoting mental health and suicide prevention in Nepal through peer support groups to destigmatize and to create conversation on prevention. This assignment focuses on identifying the recent developments and innovations in the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). We are looking for someone who can guide our team on right-based practices for MHPSS including on Peer Support Group strengthening, TOT (facilitation skills), international best practices in counselling and inclusive MHPSS content creation.
Our requested support contributes directly to the Sustainable Development Goals by strengthening mental health services and reducing suicide risks. Counseling for at-risk individuals promotes SDG 3 by improving well-being and preventing avoidable deaths.
Peer Support Group session development builds community resilience and supports SDG 4 through increased knowledge and coping skills. Gender-responsive MHPSS materials help address stigma and promote SDG 5 on gender equality. Inclusive counseling and IEC materials reduce mental-health related inequalities, contributing to SDG 10. Overall, this collaboration strengthens community systems and partnerships in line with SDG 17.
KOSHISH is looking for Online Volunteer who can support to:
– Assist in developing a draft session outline for Peer Support Group materials to ensure they align with rights-based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support practices (MHPSS).
– Support in creation of 2–3 draft IEC materials accessible for child mental wellbeing
– Contribute to prepare a Facilitation Guideline for supporting individuals at risk of suicide incorporating global best practices
Online Volunteers must not and will not be asked to support mental health-related tasks requiring performing any form of mental health, psychological and psychosocial medical treatment, including providing consultations, advice or any other form of guidance, direct or indirect.
The candidate should have:
– Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Public Health or similar field
– Minimum 5 years” experience working in community mental health program in the community setting and knowledge about disability preferred
– Trained on certified MHPSS training
– Prior knowledge on suicide prevention and community mental health and counselling guideline and supervision
