Key Responsibilities:
The Community Mobilizer will lead community engagement and awareness activities to support anticipatory action interventions in flood- and conflict-affected areas of Maguindanao, BARMM. This role ensures that communities are informed, consulted, and actively involved in preparedness actions, early warning systems, and response planning. The Community Mobilizer will facilitate inclusive participation, strengthen local capacities, and promote trust between stakeholders to enable timely and effective anticipatory measures that reduce risks and protect vulnerable populations. Demonstrates a Christ-centered life and work in serving children, families, communities, and WV team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize consultations and participatory planning sessions with local stakeholders. Facilitate joint planning. Act as a liaison between communities and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of roles and responsibilities.
Facilitate risk assessment sessions to identify local priorities and vulnerabilities. Share findings with the project team and advocate for inclusion of community inputs in planning.
Conduct regular community meetings, orientation, and awareness sessions on early warning triggers, anticipatory action, and conflict preparedness.
Prepare and share meeting agendas and minutes to ensure transparency and follow-up.
Distribute Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials in local languages.
Organize demonstrations or drills to show how communities should respond when early warning triggers are activated. Engage community leaders and volunteers to act as focal points.
Organize training sessions for community leaders and volunteers on anticipatory action protocols for flooding and conflict.
Facilitate peer learning workshops where experienced community members share best practices.
Coordinate with technical teams to ensure training content is context-specific and culturally appropriate.
Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through pre- and post-assessments and feedback sessions.
Establish and manage community feedback and complaint mechanisms.
Maintain an updated stakeholder contact list and communication plan for rapid coordination.
Collect and report community-level data on project activities and outcomes.
Use digital tools or mobile apps for real-time data entry where possible.
Participate in review and reflection meetings to present findings and recommend adjustments based on evidence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 2–3 years experience in community mobilization, participatory planning, or humanitarian/development projects.
Experience working in conflict-affected or disaster-prone areas, preferably in BARMM.
Familiarity with anticipatory action, disaster preparedness, or resilience programming is desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Community Development, Disaster Risk Management, or related field.
Diploma or certification in community engagement or humanitarian response is an advantage.
