The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.

Context

The selected online volunteer will assist the cluster of West Asia, in UNV ROECA in volunteer engagement and mobilization.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the UNV ROECA Cluster Lead, the online volunteer will:
– Support the promotion and launch of the call for applications, including via social media platforms and other channels, in coordination with UN Entities and UNV.
– Assist in the outreach and identification of UN Community Volunteers, in coordination with UN Entities and UNV.
– Support the translation of UNV documents, such as description of the assignments, into local languages, if required.
– Assist selected candidates in creating their profiles on the Unified Volunteering Platform (UVP); and on the actions required to be contracted.
– Support candidates in uploading required documents to UVP, including education credentials, identity information, beneficiary forms, medical clearance, UN mandatory courses, and other relevant materials.
– Facilitate the completion of mandatory UN and UNV courses.
– Ensure that each UN Community Volunteer has read, understood, and accepted their UN Volunteer offer and contract in UVP.
– Support the onboarding of UN Community Volunteers in close coordination with UN Entities and UNV.
– Provide guidance and support to UN Volunteers throughout their assignments, including assistance with reporting.
– Create, update, and maintain accurate records of applicants, shortlisted candidates, and deployed UN Community Volunteers, ensuring data consistency across UVP and other internal tracking tools.
– Capture lessons learned and share them with UNV.
– Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience

– Experience in volunteer engagement and management support
– Excellent oral and written (in English and Turkish) communication skills
– Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including specific community members
– Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
– Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines
