Research Officer (Internal#134/2025)

icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddr,b as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The Program is for early childhood development under the Maternal and Child Health Division (MCHD) at icddr,b integrated with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of the Government of Bangladesh. The programme is currently running in different districts in collaboration with different departments under the health ministries at district, sub-district and local level to improve development of young children.

Position description
The Research Officer will report to the Principle Investigator. The position holder will be primarily responsible for delivering training, conducting data analysis and quality assessments, coordinating with government officials, and preparing reports to provide support for project implementation in accordance with the research protocol and the organization’s values and guidelines. Major responsibilities will include-

• Impart training to the project team on psychosocial stimulation intervention and various psychometric tools;

• Conduct training to government health workers and Inspectors on ECD intervention;

• Work with PI to develop monitoring and psychometric tools;

• Data cleaning and analyze quantitative and qualitative data;

• Support PI in writing manuscript;

• Literature review and organize references using Endnote;

• Management and monitor field activities and quality assessment of the collected data at the field;

• Maintain liaison with government officials and organize workshop with the stakeholders of different ministries and national and international organizations;

• Identify areas of improvement and provide necessary assistance as and when required;

• Provide support to the PI in report writing for the donors;

• Prepare periodic report on field-based data collection and submit to PI.

Required qualification and experience
• Masters in Child Development, Psychology or Social Science;

• Minimum 3 years relevant experience preferably in early childhood development programme/ research.

Contract Type and duration
• Fixed-term basis for one year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of fund and performance.

Salary & benefits
• Annual Tk.7,54,740/-, inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;

• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival allowance, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
