The United Nations World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
WFP operates approximately 1,500 premises in more than 100 countries worldwide. Due to the nature of WFPs work, many of these premises do not have access to stable electrical grid connections and rely on diesel generators for some, or all, of their power. WFP is also involved in the development of newly constructed premises for its use and for other UN agencies as part of the UN Global Reform. New projects are therefore designed in line with the overall UNSDG target to reduce carbon emissions considerably by 2030.
The position is based in Rome and reports to Head of Facilities Management Services or a designate of the Director of WFP’s Management Services Division.
Provide specialized contribution to WFP’s Energy Efficiency Programme by analyzing power consumption of WFP’s existing and newly constructed premises worldwide and identify improvements to reduce costs and greenhouse gas emissions for WFP globally. To achieve these goals, the position will closely collaborate with other stakeholder units in WFP (Supply Chain, IT, etc.) as well as external partners (UN agencies, INGOs, and other interested organizations and government bodies/donors.

WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.org) including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel, and shipment allowances, 30 days’ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
This position is classified as a Limited Fixed-Term Appointment (LFT) position. It is a non-mobile staff appointment in the international professional category for an initial 2 years, with the potential for up to 4 years. The position is based in Rome, Italy and the selected candidate will be expected to relocate to take up the assignment. Furthermore, this position will require frequent travel (30-40%).

All selected candidates will be expected to adhere to WFP’s standards of conduct and will therefore undergo rigorous background verification internally or through third parties.
