Org. Setting and Reporting
The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote sustainable and inclusive development and regional connectivity in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
The internship in the Office of Executive Secretary (OES) is for a period of three to six months, commencing in January 2023.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the OES.
The internship is centred on assisting the OES in discharging a range of tasks related to website/information management and programme management support, and includes the following responsibilities:
• Assists with preparing and updating website content.
• Assists in the design and development of websites.
• Carries out and/or initiates tasks/special projects related to communications or information shared by the OES.
• Assists in summarizing meetings.
• Researches, analyses and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
• Other ad-hoc related duties as assigned.

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) subject to review on a case-by-case basis, applicants within a few years from graduation who could not apply earlier and who are in an early stage of their careers; as a first-time entry into the workforce; are changing careers or due to compelling family circumstances.
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
