Your team

The Division Civil-Military Cooperation provides a unique platform for military and civil-military cooperation in aviation, while enhancing airspace capacity, flight efficiency, military mission effectiveness and civil-military interoperability with reduced costs in a secure Single pan-European Sky.

Your role

Your role will be to:

  • Lead and deliver contributions on military-military and civil-military interoperability in the field of support to technical certification, in the context of performance-based certification/performance equivalence.
  • Support Agency activities (including Network Functions) with military expertise, technical advice and guidance on technical certification, airworthiness, performance-based certification (PBC), conformity assessment/verification of compliance, quality management, avionics integration and technical civil-military standardisation.
  • Prepare and deliver military technical contributions to SESAR industrial research and deployment in the field of military avionics adaptation and dual use.
  • Provide military-related technical contributions to EASA rulemaking on conformity assessment, verification of compliance and quality management.
  • Provide direct support to military aircraft modernisation programmes in terms of military avionics adaptation and support to technical certification.
  • Support and advise stakeholders (including National Military Authorities) and international organizations (ICAO, EC, NATO, EDA, EUROCAE, EASA) regarding civil-military related issues with implications in the field of: technical certification, airworthiness, performance based certification (PBC) and technical standardisation. Support civil-military consultation initiatives in field of expertise.
  • Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • University studies of at least 4 years in a relevant engineering domain,
    OR university degree of 3 years in a relevant engineering domain plus 1 year of relevant working experience,
    OR professional training of an equivalent level.

  • Military background with a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in the technical area of military standardisation, airworthiness or support to certification.
  • Experience in the field of technical certification, airworthiness, and standardisation, in the context of military aviation.
  • Experience in military Communication Navigation Surveillance (CNS) or Command Control (C2) system technical research and interoperability projects or studies conducted in military or defence industry (e.g. MRO) context.
  • Practical experience in R&D and implementation projects in technical ATM/CNS areas.
  • Knowledgeof avionics integration aspects (e.g. Integrated Modular Architecture) and related technical assurance levels, certification and airworthiness processes.
  • Knowledgeof aviation CNS infrastructure and its foreseeable evolution and understanding of the related technical standardisation environment and processes.
  • Understanding of civil-military cooperation in the context of European aviation the Single European Sky (SES) and EASA frameworks and SESAR.
  • Understanding of the ICAO plans and processes.
  • Communication: You adapt your communication to different situations and audiences.
  • Networking: You know how to maintain and expand effective networks.
  • Problem solving: You anticipate and solve business problems.

  • The working languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular job, candidates must be proficient users of English at level C1. The selected candidate will be required to become basic users of French at level A1 before the end of the probation period.

    The internal staff member with a determined contract will be offered, in principle, an appointment for 5 Year(s) with a maximum total duration of 9 years.
  • The successful candidate shall be appointed at the grade set out in this vacancy notice, or if a group of grades has been published for a job level, in principle at the basic grade of the published job level.
