RTI is seeking a Public Health Analyst for Scientific Writing to provide support for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Global Health, Division of Global Health Protection’s (DGHP) Science and Strategic Information Office. This position is based in Atlanta and work may need to be conducted onsite at CDC facilities.

We are seeking a new member to join our exciting, fast-paced project supporting DGHPs Science and Strategic Information Office. We provide support to DGHP’s Global Health Security (GHS) projects with a particular focus on the DGHP’s Core 4 technical areas (surveillance systems, laboratory systems, public health workforce, and emergency response) and the COVID-19 pandemic response. This team member will provide much needed support to increase the quality of scientific writing within DGHP by assisting authors with preparing, drafting, and finalizing manuscripts for scientific publications. Additionally, they will work with DGHP to plan, coordinate and conduct scientific writing workshops, especially for authors where English is a second language.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor manuscript submissions, collect data on acceptance and rejections and critique from journal editors, and prepare quarterly reports
  • Support the coordination, development, production, tracking and analysis of publications by Division co-authors and any supplement publications
  • Conduct training sessions on how to organize, draft and develop manuscripts as part of a pre-clearance process
  • Provide technical support and assistance to DGHP Branches and CDC Country Offices on manuscript development and scientific writing.
  • Support development of scientific materials, such as presentations, reports, scientific briefs, and potential manuscripts and supplements
  • Provide monthly reports summarizing manuscript development support and technical assistance provided
  • Provide bi-annual reports summarizing science writing sessions/workshops conducted

Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in public health or related field and one year of experience or a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of directly related experience
    • Experience writing and/or editing scientific materials, technical reports or publications
    • Experience with data or knowledge management
    • Familiarity with a second language

Preferred skills and experience, but not necessary or required:

    • Experience working with CDC and security clearance with CDC preferred.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.

$60,000 – $74,000
