I. MSF INTERNATIONAL
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural disasters. MSF offers assistance to people based only on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
MSF International is the legal entity that binds MSF’s 24 sections, 25 associations and other offices together. Registered in Switzerland, MSF International provides coordination, information and support to the MSF Movement, as well as implements international projects and initiatives as requested.
II. PLACE IN THE ORGANISATION
The Recruitment Officer is part of the Human Resources Unit and reports to the HR Manager. The job holder will work closely with the HR Referent who coordinates recruitment activities as well as with other HR officers and counterparts from the MSF movement.
III. BACKGROUND OF THE POSITION
MSF International anticipates an important increase in the number of FTE in 2023, due to new or expansion of projects entrusted by the MSF movement. The Recruitment Officer is part of the HR Unit’s plan to absorb the additional workload.
IV. OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
To ensure that the best candidate is hired for a given position and onboarded, within the relevant timeframe, and ensure that best practices are explained to, understood and adhered to by stakeholders.
V. MAIN ACTIVITIES
The job holder will oversee the entire recruitment and selection processes entrusted to them, supporting hiring managers, opening vacancies, shortlisting, interviewing, managing the offer and completing associated administrative tasks. They are expected to carry out creative sourcing techniques, utilising the appropriate recruiting channels and to ensure that best practices are followed. They will ensure that hiring managers are adequately trained MSF International’s recruitment and selection processes and understand the requirements around recruitment and selection.
MSF International is a distributed office, with staff hosted in over 25 MSF offices around the world. Thus, the job holder will have frequent interaction with Human Resources officers from those offices and assume specific administrative tasks in order to complete the hiring. The holder is also expected to follow up on and participate in the MSF International induction of new colleagues.
Other possible activities include participating in the elaboration of HR documents, roll-out of new tools, evaluating positions for inclusion in the function grid and other files as requested by the HR Manager or other counterparts.
