The World Bank Group is one of the largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries; a unique global partnership of five institutions dedicated to ending extreme poverty, increasing shared prosperity and promoting sustainable development. With 189 member countries and more than 120 offices worldwide, we work with public and private sector partners, investing in groundbreaking projects and using data, research, and technology to develop solutions to the most urgent global challenges. DECRG is the World Bank’s research department and is the largest unit within the Development Economics Vice Presidency, under the Chief Economist. DEC provides high quality economic information, data, analysis, research, and training to the Bank Group and its partners. DECRG’s research programs generate and disseminate knowledge about development policies essential for the achievement of the World Bank’s ultimate objective of poverty reduction.

Within DECRG, the Global Findex team manages an extensive database that provides in-depth data on how people save, borrow, make payments and manage risk. It is the world’s most comprehensive set of data on financial inclusion providing consistent measures of people’s use of financial services across economies and over time. The first Global Findex database in 2011 was a landmark, delivering unprecedented insights into how people in more than 140 economies use financial services. Since then, three additional rounds of data have been published with new data on mobile money and domestic payments, with the latest one collected in 2021. The team expects to begin data collection for the fifth round in 2024.

The group seeks an ETC position in the Findex Group to manage, clean, and analyze this survey data. Additionally, the consultant is expected to help generate work products to disseminate results from the data including but not limited to power points, talking points, and country-level briefs.
