Job Description

We offer our customers more than just retail therapy. Save the Children Op Shops offer a unique shopping experience and the chance to support the numerous projects that help to create better lives for children in Australia, the Pacific, and beyond. Surrounded by recycled fashion pieces, toys, books, and vintage gems you will work with brilliant teams of dedicated staff and enthusiastic volunteers to meet financial targets and improve customer engagement.

Save the Children is no ordinary not-for-profit.

We’re ambitious, creative and outspoken. We stand up for children’s rights. We want all children to be educated, healthy and live a life free from violence. We run programs in Australia and overseas and, if there’s a disaster – like an earthquake, drought or conflict – we are there on the ground.

Where you come in:

In this full-time, max term position, based in our Bateau Bay Op Shop, you will be responsible for growing and developing the business. You will lead by example to drive sales and achieve KPI targets, as well as building and nurturing a co-operative group of individuals who together form a vibrant and enthusiastic team. You will be an integral part of our Retail team and report to our Area Manager.

You will make an impact by:

  • Leading your diverse team of volunteers to deliver high levels of customer service and achieve store targets
  • Providing ongoing support and training for your volunteer team
  • Executing and supporting marketing campaigns and promotional activities within stores
  • Managing the volunteer schedule and working with the Volunteer Manager to ensure shifts are covered
  • Training, mentoring, and inducting your team of volunteers
  • Supporting the retail team to achieve goals and deliver maximised profits to Save the Children Australia

Does this sound like you?

You’re a dynamic, passionate, organised, and people-orientated individual who likes to think outside the box. Ideally, you are an existing store manager looking to take the next step in your retail career. If you are passionate about people and retail and want to contribute to an amazing and well-respected cause, this role is for you.

This role requires:

  • Staff/volunteer management experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • A highly organised and adaptable approach
  • A flair for visual merchandising and strong stock management skills
  • High motivation and willingness to use your initiative to resolve problems
  • An absolute passion for retail

Working at Save the Children is more than just a job.

It’s the feeling of knowing that your work is contributing to making the world a better place for children and working with others who feel the same.

In addition to a connection to social causes, you will have access to:

  • Individual learning plans to assist in your career development
  • Internal employment and development opportunities
