JOB DESCRIPTION

Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Office of Administration of Justice (OAJ) in New York within the Registry of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal. The Office of Administrative of Justice comprises the Office of the Executive Director, the Office of Staff Legal Assistance, as well as the Registries for the United Nations Dispute Tribunal and the United Nations Appeals Tribunal. The incumbent reports to the Registrar of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal as the First Reporting Officer and the Principal Registrar as the Second Reporting Officer.
Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Registrar of the United Nations Appeals Tribunal, the incumbent will provide a wide range of general administrative support to the Registry, including administrative support to the UNAT Judges. Within limits of delegated authority, the Staff Assistant may be responsible for the following duties: • Formatting of Judgments, Orders and other documents; • Under supervision, conduct final proofing of Judgments and Orders; • Creating electronic case binders using Adobe Pro or other professional editing software; • Printing and shipping case files; • Preparation of various administrative documents for the Judges; • Assist with the travel arrangements of the Judges including preparation of travel authorizations and processing expense reports; • Assist with preparation of Judges’ honoraria payments; • Updating website; Maintaining databases and files, including MS Teams folders; • Draft responses to routine correspondence; • Schedule appointments/meetings; Book swing space and conference rooms and arrange for equipment support for the Judges; • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Technical or vocational certificate in administrative services, human resources, personnel management or paralegal services is desirable.
Work Experience
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience providing administrative and/or legal support, conference/meeting servicing, general office support or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Teams/Sharepoint or similar systems is required. • Experience with Adobe Pro is desirable. • Experience working with ERP systems as it relates to travel administration is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
