This position is the Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs, Office of Strategic Communications (LPA/OSC) at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). LPA serves as the point of contact for Congress, the media, stakeholders from the international development community, and the public.

Duties

  • Fostering and coordinating communication between USAID and external audiences, domestically and globally, concerning the purpose and role of the U.S. economic assistance program and its place in international development.
  • Crafting, concise and tailored messages, advising the Director of Strategic Communications on communications strategies, public and influencer engagement, and media opportunities to advance the Agency’s policy and programmatic agenda.
  • Developing and coordinating the Agency’s participation in all digital media elements, including social media, strategic interactive plans, and related policies and strategies, that draw from agency guidelines and protocols.
  • Designing, developing, and implementing communications strategies, including social media integration to support Agency campaigns, initiatives, and activities
  • Providing expert advice to program officials in the development of communication and digital plans.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Time in grade must be met by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
GS-14:
 You MUST have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. One year of specialized experience refers to full-time work; we consider a part-time job on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position includes:
a)working with advocacy and development organizations, AND
b)developing and managing events, AND
c)providing input on broad strategies and specific outreach plans designed to strengthen the exchange of information between organizations and the targeted audiences.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience relevant to the position’s duties to be filled, including volunteer experience.
