JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: 

This position is located in the Washington, DC Commuting Area within the Bureau for Resilience, Environment & Food Security, (REFS), Feed the Future – Policy, Analysis and Engagement, (FTF-PAE), at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Duties

  • Coordinates the work of a technical steering committee to inform food systems strategy and decision-making. Manages support to operating units to understand and advance the policy and economic landscape desired to promote food security goals.
  • Serves as a policy expert, advising on, implementing, and disseminating core elements of the bureau’s approach to strengthening food systems policy and institutional architecture.
  • Oversees the work of a division: Manages a division work plan, oversees management of policy mechanisms, reviews and edits technical and strategic work products. Manages staff performance and professional development.
  • Executes supervisory responsibilities: Manages staff performance and professional development and ensures staff adherence to agency, bureau and office policies and procedures.
  • Represents the division, office, bureau or agency in relationships with partners and stakeholders concerning food systems policy and food security strategy.

Qualifications:

Specialized Experience:GS-15:You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include: (a) Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and/or managerial experience; (b) Understanding of International development programming and managing processes that incorporate multiple views and perspectives; (c) Experience in policy systems and policy processes at multiple levels (e.g., local, national, regional); AND, (d) Experience in food security, agriculture and agriculture-led economic growth and nutrition.
