Mission and objectives
Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is one of UNDP’s six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas: 1. Inclusive Business; 2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; 3. Impact investing; 4. Resilience and Crisis Response. The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.
Context
The 2030 Agenda emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship for achieving inclusive and sustainable development. In line with this, UNDP ICPSD has partnered with the HP Foundation to promote entrepreneurial skills development activities globally. It seeks to enhance existing programmes and projects focused on entrepreneurial and 21st-century skills development by incorporating content from HP LIFE. The Entrepreneurial Skills Development Initiative for the Sustainable Development Goals (E-SDG) encompasses several sub-activities, and these include training of trainers (ToT) in Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, establishing local trainer networks, developing knowledge products and hosting online youth entrepreneurship bootcamps. The initiative has reached over 30 countries, training more than 500 trainers and collaborating with over 15 partners. It caters to a wide range of stakeholders including International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) etc. As part of creating a knowledge product, the Entrepreneurial Skills Development Initiative for the Sustainable Development Goals (E-SDG) seeks a dedicated volunteer to translate a refugee entrepreneurship support program inventory with around 400 organizations from Turkish to English. The volunteer will also organize the translated data into a structured Airtable file, enhancing its accessibility and usability. This work is critical to fostering international collaboration and streamlining the implementation of related projects.
Task Description
• Translate data (organization descriptions, activities, and categories etc.) from Turkish to English. • Create and manage a separate Airtable file for the translated data, ensuring alignment with the original data structure. • Proofread translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity. • Ensure data is organized systematically, facilitating easy search and reference. • Collaborate with the UNDP team for quality control.
