Job Description
Join our dynamic Human Resources, Administration, and ICT team! In this role, you’ll ensure the smooth operation of IT systems across Save the Children’s Vanuatu office and field locations. Working closely with Save the Children Australia’s IT team, you’ll contribute to the Pacific IT Improvements Project, troubleshoot daily IT issues, manage IT inventory, and support efficient use of IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities include overseeing IT hardware and software, resolving technical issues, and maintaining seamless networking and internet access.

In this maximum-term position, based in Port Vila you will be part of the HR, Administration and ICT team, providing ICT support to the organization.

 

You will make an impact by:

 

IT Improvements

  • Work with the SCA IT Operations team in the design, planning, implementation of the Pacific IT improvement project.
  • Demonstrate the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative technology solutions, including participating in program initiatives that integrate technological advancements to enhance impact and efficiency.
  • Work with program leads to build in sufficient IT resources into program budgets.
  • Provide responsive and timely IT support to projects and staff in accordance with operating standards.
  • IT plans, policies and procedures are regularly updated and are consistent with SC and country requirements in consultation with MO IT.
  • Staff are informed and understand IT policies and procedures.
  • Effectively manage daily IT helpdesk and hardware tasks.
  • Actively set up and participate in staff meetings.
  • Serves as a role model demonstrating SCI values.
  • Ensure that Incident Report around IT issues is reported immediately.
  • Any other activities as may be required.

 

IT Technical Services

  • Provide timely technical assistance to all IT software and hardware queries.
  • Email account maintenance according to IT policy and procedures.
  • Software and Hardware installation are compliant with SC policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all systems are virus free.
  • Backup of server and data files are current.
  • Provide capacity training to IT focal points and new users.

 

IT Resource Management

  • IT staff and focal points are appropriately trained for their responsibilities.
  • Procedures for use of IT resources are regularly updated.
  • IT resources are well maintained and used carefully.
  • Purchasing complies with procedures.
  • Maintain up to date asset register of all IT equipment.

 

This role requires:

 

  • Minimum 3+ years of lead experience in a similar role.
  • Degree in Information Communications &Technology or related discipline.
  • Good working experience in trouble shooting, networking, configuring PCs and laptops, installing software/hardware, setting up emails, and anti-virus updating.
  • Knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining server, PCs, laptops and printers.
  • High levels of attention to detail and quality.
  • Good customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational, planning and prioritizing skills, and able to meet deadlines and can work in a team.
  • Training and capacity building of IT staff and end-users.
  • Good working relations with IT service providers.
  • Good English communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, able to respond to changing situations.
  • Ability to work effectively and calmly in a high-pressure environment.
  • Self-motivated, confident and able to take initiative, and work with the minimum supervision.
  • Able to work harmoniously in across cultural environment.
