JOB DESCRIPTION

Result of Service
The consultant will develop and produce digital communications content, including branding and visual assets, infographics, quote cards, videos and other social media content as required for the MINURSO new Communications Strategy, with the following objectives: (a) demonstrate the tangible impact of MINURSO Components through compelling storytelling featuring the voices of peacemakers and peacekeepers; (b) increase understanding of the roles, responsibilities and capacities of MINURSO Mission to help manage expectations; (c) promote progress in strengthening the effectiveness of peacekeeping under the Action for Peacekeeping + initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO) has moved to a new digital approach in its Strategic Communications in order to communicate internally and externally on the activities and work of the Mission. The Consultant will continue to support graphic content production in support of implementing MINURSO Communications Strategy 2023/24 and will work under the guidance of the Public Information Officer of MINURSO. All work will be delivered through electronic submission to the Public Information Officer of MINURSO. She/he will focus on the following areas of work: • Supports the implementation of digital content and initiatives on behalf of United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Western Sahara (MINURSO), including producing digital assets, grahics and videos, monitoring and reporting on progress, taking appropriate follow-up action, and analyzing outcomes. • Produce two digital product (Video, Animation, Infograph, or visual) per week. • Develop a design and reusable framework for an internal newsletter “Acacia”. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
University Degree in Graphic Design, art work or equivalent is required. At least 3 years’ international experience in communications, public information /or advocacy, arts or graphic design. Strong, demonstrated digital-visual production and graphic design skills. Strong, demonstrated creativity. Good knowledge of the UN, peace operations, and gender-related issues. The Consultant will provide her/his own equipment which should include a laptop computer, design software(s) and a smartphone.
Languages
As the working language of the UN is English, for this position, fluency in English (spoken, read and written) is required. Knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic,French, or Spanish) is an advantage.
