The Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF) is a project of UNOPS.

The Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF)
The Sanitation and Hygiene Fund (SHF) is a UN fund dedicated to achieving universal access to sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health through market-based approaches. Establishing a global footprint, SHF works with Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) to build robust sanitation economies and the menstrual hygiene marketplace through catalytic financing. SHF aims to be transformative and approaches sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health as an ecosystem where people, including the most marginalised, have access to not only toilets, handwashing facilities and menstrual products but also the goods and services needed to safely use, dispose, treat and reuse waste along the entire value chain, we can ensure the health and well-being of people, economies and the planet.
The Communications Intern will join the growing Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Team to support SHF in its exciting journey as a growing UN Global Fund dedicated to sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health. This role will involve supporting the creation and publication of various external relations assets, including external publications, brochures, slide decks, website and social media content. The Communications Intern will also support the global positioning of the Fund by supporting participation in various global events.
The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Intern will support the development and implementation of tailored donor engagement strategies with strategic bilateral and multilateral partners. The Intern will also contribute to strengthening engagement with private foundations and other non-traditional donors. Finally, the intern will play a key role in supporting the organization of the first replenishment event for SHF, planned for 2025, as well as other high level meetings paving the way to this key moment.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resource Mobilization and Partnerships, the interns provide support to the Sanitation and Hygiene Fund, performing a variety of dedicated functions ensuring high quality and accuracy of work, in support of the SUN Movement Secretariat and different teams’ activities.

Training components and learning elements
The incumbents will have access to project and portfolio documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation in the areas the portfolio covers. She/he has the opportunity to join official meetings and learn about UNOPS, and the UN, and multilateral cooperation. She/he will get exposure to key stakeholders, multi-partner donors, international non-governmental organizations and other representatives.
The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, Google Currents/Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Innovation and Research, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc.
Education:
The applicant must be enrolled in a university programme, such as a Bachelor, Masters, or Ph.D. (or equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the applications date of the internship
Experience:
Professional work experience is not required for this internship.

Contract type: Internship
Contract level: Intern
Contract duration: 6 to 12 Months
This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum per policy dependent on defined factors. However, Interns must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.
