Duties and Responsibilities
The internship programme is for a period of two to six months, depending on the needs of the division. The intern is to report to the Human Resources Officer in the Staffing Diversity and Outreach Unit (SDOU) of the Human Resources Management Section (HRMS), Division of Administration (DA). The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Human Resources Management Section. Daily responsibilities will vary and depend on the individual’s background, including but not limited to: • Assisting in social media outreach (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter) • Conducting recruiting outreach • Assisting with administration related to the internship programme • Implementing and maintaining social networking campaigns • Assisting with communication materials related to recruitment • Coordinating with different stakeholders • Compiling statistics related to recruitment • Generating a variety of standard data entry using databases in Excel • Reviewing and providing input on the design of HR dashboards and compilation of statistical data • Providing administrative support to ongoing projects
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. However, Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
